Čigāniņi, pagāniņi,
Kur šo nakti gulēsim?
Cits priedēi, cits eglē,
Cits celiņa maliņā.
Kurš priedēi, kurš eglē,
Citu rītu redzesim,
Kurš celiņa maliņā,
Būs vilkami kumosiņis.
Čigānosi laizdamiesi
Apsavilku kažociņ’:
Citu vietu suņi rēja
I ar skruķi pabadīj’.
Nerejati ciema suņi,
No tālienes čigāniņ’:
Deviņ' kalni, deviņ' lejas
Da čigāna mājiņām.
Tālu, tālu čigānosi, toldaro, toldaro,
Ziemassvētku vakarāi, toldaro, toldaro,
Dos mums ēsti, dos mums dzerti, toldaro, toldaro
Dos naksniņu pārgulēti, toldaro, toldaro!
Sabijāsi saimeniece,
Daudz sanāca čigāniņ’,
Nebīstiesi saimeniece,
Visi bija paēduš’;
Visi bija paēduši,
Visi bija padzēruš’,
Visi bija gulējuši
Mīļās Māras istabā.
Tālu, tālu čigānosi, toldaro, toldaro,
Ziemassvētku vakarāi, toldaro, toldaro,
Dos mums ēsti, dos mums dzerti, toldaro, toldaro
Dos naksniņu pārgulēti, toldaro, toldaro!
Tālu, tālu čigānosi, toldaro, toldaro,
Ziemassvētku vakarāi, toldaro, toldaro,
Dos mums ēsti, dos mums dzerti, toldaro, toldaro
Dos naksniņu pārgulēti, toldaro, toldaro!
Tālu, tālu čigānosi, toldaro, toldaro,
Ziemassvētku vakarāi, toldaro, toldaro,
Dos mums ēsti, dos mums dzerti, toldaro, toldaro
Dos naksniņu pārgulēti, toldaro, toldaro!

The Latvian bagpipe and drum music group “Auļi” was founded in 2003. The group that consists of six bagpipers, three
drummers and one bass player, creates unique sounds by mixing ancient and modern elements.
Musicians themselves have named their music style etnotranss (ethnic trance)....more

This might be my favourite of Heilung. They've improved a bit on their later releases but their debut is still much meaner, and darker. Maria's amazing voice obviously steals the show but I also quite like Kai's too, especially on the live performance. In fact I'd say get LIFA over this IMO.
The spoken word bits are really cool to hear proto-germanic in use but for relistening purposes they are going to be a bit obtrusive. Nevertheless the proper music here is on continual repeat for me. Rabbit
